Hand Techniques (Son Ki Sul)

All techniques the attacker is punching with the right hand

  1. Step with the right foot to your right and outside of the attackers left foot. Then the left hand does a knife defense block to their left hand, and your right hand does a center punch to their solar plexus.
  2. Step with the right foot to your right and outside of the attackers left foot. The left hand does a center punch to the stomach, as you bend their left elbow. Do a left hand knife defense block to their right hand, and your right hand does a face punch.
  3. Step with the right foot forward into a horseback, and do a right hand outside/inside block (palm heel) to their wrist. Then you grab you right hand with the left hand and do a right elbow punch to their solar plexus.
  4. Step with the right foot forward into a horseback, and do a right hand outside/inside block (palm heel) to their wrist. Then you grab you right hand with the left hand and do a right elbow punch to their solar plexus.  Then switch hands and twist 180° to the left and do a left elbow punch to their solar plexus.
  5. Step with the right foot forward into a horseback, and do a right hand outside/inside block (palm heel) to their wrist. Then you bring your right hand back to your face, and do a right chop to their neck.
  6. Step with the left foot forward and to the outside of their right foot. Then you do a left hand palm heel block to their right elbow.  Next you do a right hand punch to the ribs followed by a left hand punch to the kidney, and then a right hand punch to the face.
  7. Step with the right foot to your right and outside of the attackers left foot. Then the left hand does a knife defense block to their hand, and your right hand does a reverse chop to their temple.
  8. Step with the left foot forward in a front stance, and do a left hand knife defense block. Then grab their right hand and pull them down towards the ground as you do a right elbow strike to their face.
  9. Step with the right foot forward into a horseback, and do a right hand outside/inside block (palm heel) to their wrist. Then you grab your right hand with the left hand, do a right elbow punch to their solar plexus.  Now you do a right back fist to their face, and a right hammer fist to the groin.  Grab the groin and pull.
  10. Step with the left foot forward and to the outside of their right foot. Then you do a left hand palm heel block to their right elbow.  Next you grab their right shoulder with your right hand and as you do a right side knee strike to their midsection.
  11. Step with the left foot forward in a fighting stance, and do a left hand knife defense block. Take both hands and do a double chop to their collarbones.  Then grab their neck and pull them down as you do a right knee to the solar plexus.
  12. Step with the left foot forward in a fighting stance, and do a left arm in/out block motion. Continue the motion so you trap their arm under your arm pit and against your side.  Punch them in the face with the right hand.
  13. Step with the right foot forward into a horseback, and do a right hand outside/inside block (palm heel) to their wrist, and immediately spin to the left 180° and do a left hand chop to their neck.
  14. Step with the left foot forward and to the outside of their right foot. Then you do a left hand palm heel block and grab to their right elbow.  Then you grab their right shoulder with your right hand.  Do a right foot sidekick to their right knee.  Pull them to the ground with your right hand and punch them in the face with your left hand.
  15. Step with the right foot out to the right side of the attacker’s body in a horseback stance. Then put you left knife hand on their right shoulder blade, and push them so their body turns.  Pivot your body 180° to the right and grab their left shoulder with your right hand (your right arm is on top as your arms are crossed).  Then you do a right foot front kick (toes are facing out and to the right) to the back of their right knee as you pull them down with your right hand.  When they are on the ground you punch them in the face with the left hand.
  16. Step with the left foot forward and to the outside of their right foot. Then you do a left hand palm heel block to their right elbow.  Grab your right hand with your left, do a right elbow strike to their ribs.
  17. Step with the left foot forward and to the outside of their right foot. Then you do a left hand palm heel block to their right elbow.  Grab your right hand with your left, do a right elbow strike to their ribs, the switch hands, do a right back elbow strike to their kidneys.
  18. Step with the right foot to your right and outside of the attackers left foot. Then the left hand does a knife defense block to their right hand, and your right hand does a finger punch to their eyes.
  19. Step with the left foot forward and to the outside of their right foot. As you do this your left hand does a knife block to their right wrist.  Then you grab their wrist and do a right hand palm heel to their chin.  Put your right foot behind their right foot and trip them as you push the chin.  When they are on the ground your left hand puts their right elbow on your left shin.  Then you push the elbow into the shin and break the elbow as you do a right hand punch to the face.
  20. Step with the left foot forward and to the outside of their right foot as you do a left hand high block. Then step with the right foot behind their right foot as you do a right back elbow strike to their kidney.  Then bring your right hand up and grab their right elbow with your right hand.  As you do this, push their arm down with your left hand.  Then you sweep the foot and pull their elbow as you push their arm down to the ground.  Then keeping their arm straight, bend their wrist and move you left hand and push down on their right elbow (this will cause pain).  Keep your left hand on their elbow.  Then pull your right hand out and punch them in the face with your right hand.
  21. Step with your left foot out the left and past their right foot, and do a right hand inside/outside knife defense block. Then grab their wrist     with our right hand, and put your left hand on their right shoulder and pull them down with the right hand.  Push with your left hand as you do a right elbow strike to the center of their back.
  22. Step with the left foot into a fighting stance, and do a left knife hand defense block. Then put your right hand up on their right wrist so both hands can grab the wrist.  Keep their arm above your head as you step with the right foot forwards and to the left under their arm until you are facing the same direction.  Then take you left hand off and do a left foot side kick to their right knee as you do a left hand back fist to the face.
  23. Step with the left foot to the left and forwards to the outside of their right foot. Then bring your left arm up, and do an outside/inside block to their right elbow as your right arm does an outside/inside block to their right wrist.  Push your arms together to trap their arm.  Then twist to the right to hurt their arm.
  24. Step with the right foot forward into a fighting stance; as you do a left hand knife block to their right wrist.  Your right hand does an uppercut to their chin.  Then the left hand does a finger punch to their solar plexus.  The right hand does a chop to their neck.
  25. Step with the left foot forward in a fighting stance, and do a left hand knife defense block to their right wrist. Grab the wrist, and do a right arm elbow strike to the left side of their face.  Then continue through this motion and do a right back elbow strike to the right side of their face.  Stop your right hand on the back of their neck, and pull their head down into a right knee to the face.
  26. Step with the left foot forward into a fighting stance, and do a left hand knife defense block/grab. Then put your right hand up on the wrist with the left hand.  Then keeping their arm above your head pivot 180° to the left and put their elbow on your right shoulder and pull down to break it.  As you do this, give them a left elbow strike to the solar plexus.
  27. Step with the left foot to the outside of their right foot, and do a left hand outside/inside chop / grab to their wrist. Put your right hand up with the left hand, and do a wristlock.  Step back and drag them to the ground.
  28. Step with the right foot forward and to the right as you do a left hand knife defense block. Then do a right ridge hand to their neck.  Grab their shoulder and pull them down into a right knee to the solar plexus.
  29. Pivot to the left 45°, and bend your knees to avoid the punch. As you do this do a left hand knife defense block, and a right ox hand to the groin.  Then take your right hand, and grab the back of the left knee, as the left hand grabs the right wrist.  Pull the leg out to take them to the ground.  When they are on the ground your left hand pulls their right elbow to your left shin and breaks it.
  30. Step with the left foot outside of their right foot, do a left hand knife defense as you do a right ridge hand to the right temple. Then grab the wrist with your left hand and pull your left hand in front of your face, and wrap their right arm around their throat.  Then do a left knee to the small of the back, and then one to the back of their head.
  31. Step with your left foot outside of their right foot. Place your left hand on the outside and below their knee.  Your right hand goes on the inside of their knee.  Twist and push the knee to the outside and put them to the ground.
  32. Step with your left foot outside of the right foot. Place your right hand on the outside of their right knee, and slightly behind it.  Your left hand goes on their chest.  Push the chest as you lift their knee.  Be sure to step through the technique so they fall to the ground.
  33. They do a right hand punch and you do a left knife hand block to their wrist. Step in with your right foot. Your right hand hits the bottom of their triceps, and you pull on their elbow with your right hand (just below your thumb and above your wrist). Then you pull on their muscle with your right arm and thumb.
  34. Do #1 hand technique. Then grab their right hand with both hands and pull across your chest.  Step with your left foot across and in front of your right foot as you raise their arm up and over your head.  Turn 180° clockwise keeping them in a wristlock.  Then put them to the ground.
  35. Step like #6 hand technique, except right hand blocks the wrist & the left hand punches their ribs. Your left hand goes across their throat as your left foot sweeps the back of their right foot.
  36. They do a right hand punch. You step forward (towards their center) into a horseback stance with your left foot, and do a right knife hand inside/outside block, (be sure to block before stepping).  Grab their hand and move it behind you neck as you do a left elbow to there solar plexus.  Bend your knees and grab the back of their left knee with your left hand.  Place them in a fireman’s carry, and flip them to the ground.  Keep them in a wrist lock.
  37. Step with your right foot in towards their right side. You do a left knife hand inside/outside block to their right wrist as your right hand (open and thumb in the air) hits under their triceps.  Grab their right forearm with both of your hands.  Then you step back with your left foot, twist and do a right hip throw.  Twist the hand so they roll on their stomach and you do a wristlock on them.
  38. Attacker punches with the right hand. Step to your left and hit their elbow with your left hand so it bends to the ground as you grab their wrist with your right hand.  Your left inner elbow goes under their elbow, as your left hand grabs their wrist, (a come along technique).
  39. They do a right hand punch. You step in with your right foot as you do a left knife hand block to their wrist, as you do a right hand punch to their solar plexus.  Then reach around the front of their neck with your right arm.  Do a right hip throw and keep the pressure on their neck as this will allow to you choke them.
  40. The attacker punches with the right hand and you do a left arm inside/outside block/grab.  Put right arm behind neck.  Then step           forward with your right foot between their legs.  Your right hand grabs the back of their right thigh. Pick them up into a fireman’s carry.  Flip them to the ground.  Keep a hold of their right hand.  Step across their head with right foot and your right shin into there right ribs.  Grab their hand securely with both hands (make sure the palm is facing away from you).  Fall backwards with left leg across throat.  The ball of your right foot goes into ribs below armpit.  Raise hips & push with right foot, choke with left leg.

Kick Techniques (Bahl Ki Sul)

Techniques 1 – 13 the attacker is punching with the right hand

  1. You are in a right foot back fighting stance. You do a right foot front kick.
  2. You are in a right foot back fighting stance. You do a right roundhouse kick.
  3. You are in a right foot back fighting stance. You do a right foot sidekick.
  4. You are in a right foot back fighting stance. You do a right foot back kick.
  5. You are in choon-bee stance. You duck the punch by going to the left and you do a right foot sidekick to their right armpit.
  6. You are in choon-bee stance. You duck the punch by going to the left and you do a right foot roundhouse kick to their right armpit.
  7. You are in a right foot back fighting stance. Then you do a right foot push kick to the solar plexus.
  8. Step with the left foot forward into a fighting stance, as you do a left hand inside/outside block to their wrist. Grab their wrist with you left hand and grab again with the right hand.  Then you do a right foot roundhouse kick to their head.
  9. From choon-bee step with the left foot to you left and do a right hand inside/outside block grab. Then pull them down as you do a right foot side hook kick to their head.
  10. You are in a right foot back fighting stance. You do a right foot out/in kick, followed by a left foot spinning back axe kick.
  11. Step with the left foot forward into a fighting stance, as you do a left hand inside/outside block to their wrist. Grab their wrist with you left hand and grab again with the right hand.  Then you do a right foot sidekick to their armpit.
  12. You are in a right foot back fighting stance. You do a right foot outside/inside block kick, and then without putting your foot down you immediately do a right foot sidekick to the face.
  13. You are in a right foot back fighting stance. You do a right foot front kick to the groin, and then without putting your leg down immediately do a right foot roundhouse kick to the face.
    All techniques the attacker is doing a right foot front kick unless stated differently
  14. You are in a right foot back fighting stance. You block their kick with your left hand, and then you do a right foot front kick.
  15. You are in a right foot back fighting stance. You block their kick with your left hand, and then you do a right foot roundhouse kick.
  16. From choon-bee you slide to the left and catch their leg on the right side of your body. Your right hand should be open and on the bottom of their heel.  Your left hand is open and on top of their shin.  Pull their left foot forward and punch them in the face.
  17. You are in a right foot back fighting stance. You block their kick with your left hand, and then you do a right foot spinning back hook kick.
  18. You are in a right foot back fighting stance. You block their kick with your left hand, then you do a right foot spinning back hook, roundhouse kick (double kicks).
  19. From choon-bee as they kick you slide forward and to the left as you catch their leg at the knee in the “V” of your elbow. Then put your left hand on their right shoulder.  Step with your right foot forward and roll them across your right hip.  Then as they are on the ground break their right elbow across your left shin with your left hand.
  20. You are in a right foot back fighting stance. You block their kick with your left hand, and then you do a right foot jumping front kick.
  21. From choon-bee; when they kick, you step back with the left foot into a fighting stance, and do a right hand knife block. Then you do a left foot kick followed by a right foot spinning back ax kick.
  22. From choon-bee; when they kick, you step back with the left foot into a fighting stance, and do a right hand knife block. Then you do a left roundhouse kick followed by a right foot spinning back hook kick.
  23. From choon-bee; when they kick, you step back with the left foot into a fighting stance, and do a right hand knife block. Then you do a right foot 360° roundhouse kick.
  24. From choon-bee; when they kick, you step back with the left foot into a fighting stance, and do a right hand knife block. Then you do a left foot jumping back kick.
  25. From choon-bee; when they kick you slide forward and to the left and do a right knife hand block, immediately followed by a right foot inside/outside kick.
  26. From choon-bee; when they kick you step with the left foot outside of their right foot at a 45° angle, and do a right hand low block. Then you do a right foot roundhouse kick followed by a left foot spinning back hook kick.
  27. From choon-bee stance. When they kick you step back with the left foot into a fighting stance, and do a right knife hand block.  Then do a left foot jumping front kick to the groin and a right foot jumping roundhouse kick to the head (both kicks in one movement).
  28. From fighting stance. When they kick you do a left footed side kick to their right ankle followed by left foot front kick to the groin (double kick).  Then do a right foot jumping roundhouse kick to the head.
  29. From fighting stance. They do a right foot roundhouse kick to your head.  As they do that you do a right foot back sweep.
  30. From choon-bee stance. When they kick you step back with the left foot into a fighting stance and do a right hand low block.  Then do a left foot jumping spinning back ax kick.
  31. They do a right foot roundhouse kick to your ribs. You block with your left bicep, grab their ankle with your left hand.  Step with your right foot behind their left foot.  Your right hand pushes the chest.  When they hit the ground you do a right hand punch to the groin.
  32. They do a right foot back kick. You slide in behind them and grab the leg with your right hand.  Then you sweep their left foot backwards as your left hand pulls them to the ground.  Keep hold of their right ankle and twist it into an ankle lock.
  33. Same as #32 kick except place your left foot in front of their left leg and push them forward with your left hand.
  34. They do a right foot roundhouse kick and you slide in with your right foot and grab their leg with both arms (left at ankle, right above the knee). Keep spinning counterclockwise then change direction so they will fall to the ground.  Be sure to push them down as you change direction.  This will hurt their knee.  Then you do an ankle lock.
  35. They do a right hand punch. You step to the left and outside of them.  Then you do a scissor leg take down.
  36. They do a right hand punch. You step to your left and outside of their right foot.  Then you do a right knife inside/outside block.  Grab the wrist as you do a right foot roundhouse kick to their stomach.  Step through and under their arm.  Flip them across your right hip.
  37. They do a right hand punch. As they step in with their right foot you do a backward fall to the ground as you do a right foot front kick to the groin.
  38. They do a right foot sidekick. You step to your left and grab their foot with your right arm.  Step over their knee with your left foot and sit down on the knee (slowly).
  39. They do a right foot sidekick. You slide to the left and block the leg with both arms (#23 hand technique block).  Immediately do a right knee strike to their right knee followed by a right foot roundhouse kick to their face.
  40. They do a right foot roundhouse kick to your ribs.  You block with your left bicep and grab the ankle with your left hand.  Step with your right foot into their center.  Your right forearm pushes on their shin.  Be sure to try and lock the knee.  They should fall backwards to the ground.

Escapes

  1. Attacker grabs your right wrist with their left wrist. Open your right hand and step with the right foot forward into a horseback stance.  Then you twist your right hand towards their left thumb and pull your wrist free.
  2. Attacker grabs your right wrist with their right hand. Step with your right foot forward as you do a right open hand out/in circle motion.  Bring your right hand up to their face so you can elbow them in the face.
  3. Attacker grabs your right wrist with their left wrist. Open your right hand and step with the right foot forward and to your right.  As you do that your right wrist does an in/out motion.  Take your right hand up by and passed their left ear.
  4. Attacker grabs your right wrist with their left wrist. Open your right hand and step with your left foot behind you, so you end up facing the same direction as your attacker.  Your right hip should be touching their left hip.  As you are turning bring your right hand up to the side of your face and throw your right hand out and up, like you would be casting a fishing line.
  5. Attacker grabs your right wrist with their right hand. Step with your left foot forward as you swing your left arm into their right elbow.  Pull your right hand free.
  6. Attacker grabs your right wrist with their left hand. You open your right hand and point your fingers to the floor, then quickly raise your right hand and arm as you step forward with your right foot.  Your right elbow can hit them in the nose.
  7. Attacker grabs both of your wrists in front of you. Open and point your fingers to the floor, then quickly raise both arms as you step forward with your right foot, both elbows come up near the attacker’s face.
  8. Attacker grabs both of your wrists in front of you. Raise your arms and step to the left with your right foot so you end up facing the same way as your attacker is.  Your right arm is over your head.  Pull your left hand as you push your right hand.  Hit their right arm into their left arm.
  9. Attacker grabs your right wrist with their left hand. Open your hand and do an out/in circle motion (thumb against their wrist).  Continue with the circle and hit their wrist away from you.
  10. Attacker grabs your right wrist with their left hand.  Open your hand and do an in/out circle motion.  Continue with the circle and hit their wrist away from you.

Self-Defense (Ho Sin Sul)

  1. Attacker grabs your right wrist with their left wrist. Open your right hand and step with the right foot forward into a horseback stance.  Then you twist your right hand towards their left thumb and pull your wrist free.  Then your right hand does a chop to their neck.
  2. Attacker grabs your right wrist with their right hand. Step with your left foot forward as you do a left hand palm heel strike to their right wrist.  Then you pull your right hand free and do a right hand reverse chop to their throat.
  3. Attacker grabs your right bicep with their left hand. Take your right arm into a clockwise circle and end in the position with your right hand under their left elbow.  Put your right hand into a fist and place their elbow on your fist.  Grab your right hand with your left hand and lift up on their elbow.  Be sure that their left hand is trapped in your right armpit.
  4. Attacker grabs your right shoulder with their left hand. Step forward with your right foot and twist to the left a little.  Place your right hand on their left elbow and your left hand on the back of their left wrist.  Push up on the elbow and roll it over until the top of their elbow is in the air.  Then push down on the elbow with your right hand and break it.
  5. Attacker grabs your belt with their left hand. Step forward with your  right foot, and place your right fist beneath their left elbow.   Then place your left hand under your right hand, and lift up on their elbow.
  6. Attacker grabs your belt from behind with their left hand. Step with your left foot behind their left foot.  Take your right arm and place the inside of your elbow on the outside of their elbow by doing an over the top to bottom motion.  Then take you right hand and grab your left hand and pull forward to hurt the elbow.
  7. Attacker grabs your right hand across you back with their right hand, and your left hand out the left side of your body with their left hand.   Use your right heel and kick the groin as you pull your left hand free by going forward with it.  Then you grab them with your right hand and pivot 180° to the right.  Lift your right hand up and place your left hand on the back of their right wrist and do a wrist lock.
  8. Attacker does a left arm single chokehold.   Step with your right foot behind their feet, and take your right arm and sweep across their chest.  Put them to the ground.
  9. Attacker grabs your collar from behind with their left hand. Step with your left foot behind their left foot.  Take your left arm, and place the inside of your elbow on the outside of their elbow by doing a bottom to top motion.  Take your right hand and grab your left hand and pull down hurting their elbow.
  10. Attacker does a double chokehold. Step with your right foot behind their feet and your right arm in between you and them. Reach up and pull their hair with your right hand putting them to the ground.
    11 – 15 THE ATTACKER IS FACING THE SAME DIRECTION AS YOU ARE 
  11. Attacker grabs your right wrist with their left hand. Turn your wrist so the knuckles are down and grab them.  Lift their arm and do a right foot side kick to their armpit.
  12. Attacker grabs your right wrist with the left hand. Move your right  hand forward and then quickly backwards.  When you go backwards; go until your arm is straight up in the air.  Take your left hand and put in on their wrist and do a wristlock.
  13. As you are walking they come up from behind you and try to steal your purse. When they do this let your arm lift up in the air until your hand is at their hair level.  When this happens close your hand on their hair and pull.
  14. Attacker grabs you right shoulder with their left hand. Place your right hand on their left elbow and your left hand on the back of their left wrist.  The push up on the elbow and roll it over until the top of their elbow is in the air.  Then push down on the elbow with your right hand and break it.
  15. Attacker puts you in a side headlock from the right side. Take your right hand and place it on the small of their back, and your left hand on the back of their head.  Then you do a left knee to the groin followed by a left knee to their face.
  16. Attacker is facing you and grabs your shirt with both hands very lightly. Take your right hand and come up between their arms and knock their right hand off.  Then your left hand comes and knocks off their left hand. Then do a right punch to the face.
  17. Attacker is facing you and grabs your shirt with both hands tightly. Step with the left forward into a fighting stance.  Take both hands and come up between their elbows.  This will loosen up their grip.  Then you do a knife hand chop to their collarbones.  Grab their neck and pull them down into a right knee to the stomach.
  18. Attacker is facing you and grabs your shirt with both hands very tightly. Take your right hand and put it between their arms, putting your right elbow on their left elbow, and your right hand on the bottom of their right elbow.  Grab your right hand with your left and lift your hand as you push down on the elbow.  This should make them let go.
  19. Attacker is facing you and grabs both of your wrists. Take your arms and make a half – circle with each arm until you smash their hands together at the top of the circle.  Then pull your right hand down to the back of their right wrist, and do a wristlock with both hands.
  20. Attacker grabs both your hands behind your back. Stomp on their left foot with you left foot and bring your arms up behind you to above your head.  This will smash their hands together.  Slide your right hand down and underneath their right hand.  As you do this, grab their right wrist and put them into a wristlock.
  21. Attacker does a bear hug on you from behind with your arms pinned to your side. You drop your hips down and throw your arms up in the air.  Then you do a left elbow strike to their left ribs followed by a right elbow strike to their right ribs.
  22. Attacker does a bear hug on you from behind with your arms on the outside of the hug. Stomp down on the instep of their left foot with your left foot.  Then bend over and grab their foot and pull it up in the air between your legs to take them down.  When they hit the ground you do a right foot sidekick to the groin followed by a right foot sidekick their face.
  23. You are shaking hands with a person.  Grab their hand tightly and twist your right wrist counter clockwise, as you step with your left foot counter clockwise 180°.  Reach behind your back and grab their hand with your left hand into a wristlock.  Let go with your right hand.  Then continue twisting the same way until you complete a circle, as you raise their hand in the air.
  24. Attacker is standing in front of you and grabs you hair on top of your head. You do a reverse wristlock on their hand as you step back so they go to the ground.
  25. Attacker is behind you and puts you in a full nelson. You step on their foot and reach up behind your neck to grab their head.  Then you flip them over your shoulder.
  26. You are sitting in a chair. The attacker steps in toward you with their left foot.  You do a left foot front kick to the groin, as you hook your right heel around their left foot.  Push their left knee with your left foot as you pull their foot.
  27. You are sitting in a chair. Attacker comes up from behind you and does a single arm choke.  You reach up to grab attackers arm, and flip them across your shoulder.
  28. Sitting beside you. Attacker puts their right arm round you.  You do a left elbow punch to their solar plexus or ribs.  Followed by a left back fist to their face, and a left hammer fist to their groin.  Take your left arm, and place the inside of your elbow on the outside of their elbow by doing a bottom to top motion.  Take your right hand and grab your left hand and pull down hurting their elbow.
  29. You are lying on the floor. Attacker comes up in front of you and steps in with their left foot.  You do a right foot front kick to their groin followed immediately by putting you right foot behind their left ankle.  Your left foot pushes the inside of their left knee as you pull their foot.  When they fall you do a left foot roundhouse kick to their face.
  30. You are sitting on the floor. Attacker comes up in front of you with their right foot forward.  You slide your right leg out to the right side and put your left hand behind their heel.  You pull the heel towards you as you put your right forearm on their shin.  You standup and apply pressure with your forearm on the shin.
  31. Attacker grabs your right wrist with their right hand. Turn your hand inside/outside and open hand (your hand should be in a knife hand chop open and above the arm).  Take your free hand and place your fingers on their fingers and your thumb on their thumb that is grabbing you.  Then push with your knife hand straight down.  Be sure that your right hand is on their wrist when you push.
  32. Attacker grabs your right wrist with their left hand. Move your right hand towards your left and grab their left wrist with your left hand.  This will free your right hand.  Then you step to their center with your right       foot, and put your right hand behind their waist.  Pick them up and throw them across your right hip (counterclockwise) to the ground.
  33. Someone is doing #32 self-defense to you. You have to get your left hand free and place it on their throat and push backward.  Dropping them to your left knee, that is bent.
  34. They grab your left bicep with their right hand. You step outside of their right foot with your left foot.  Do a left arm sweep across their neck, (clothesline), and follow through by stepping with the right foot so they go to the ground.
  35. Attacker lunges for your right leg. As they grab your leg you cross the “T” and drop your weight on their back.  Take your right arm under their left and over there back.  Slide your left leg under there body and pull their body into you as you go to the ground.  Tuck the attackers head under your right knee and lock your feet together.  Lie backwards bringing there left arm with you.  Then squeeze legs and straighten your body.  Then slide your left hand through the triangle and grab your right wrist.  Put pressure on wrist and choke with legs.
  36. Attacker grabs your bicep (#3 self-defense). Bring your arm up and squeeze the hand between your bicep and forearm. Then do an outside/inside motion.
  37. They grab your right wrist with their left hand. Turn your right hand inside/outside motion hand open and palm up.  Take your left hand and put underneath their left hand.  Your fingers should be on there thumb.  Turn your right hand so your right wrist is on there wrist.  Push your right hand clockwise to break there wrist.
  38. They grab your right wrist with their left hand. Turn your right hand counterclockwise to bend their wrist.  Then push their hand into there face.
  39. Attacker grabs your throat with both of their hands. Bring both of your fists down on the inside of their elbows, followed immediately by hitting their ears.
  40. They do a right hand grab to your chest.  Your right hand grabs their hand to hold it in place.  Then you place your left knife hand on their wrist.  Just twist your waist clockwise to apply pressure.

BONG SELF-DEFENSE

  1. Attacker has a staff in both hands. Their right foot is forward.  Attacker strikes down with the staff.  As they do this you slide in with your left     foot forward and grab the staff between their hands.  Your right hand low and left hand is high.  Be sure that your thumbs are facing the attacker.  Step with your right foot behind their right foot and do the motion like you are going to attention with a staff.
  2. Attacker has a staff in both hands. Their right foot is forward.  Attacker does a poke at you.  You slide to the outside of the staff, be sure that your left foot is forward.  Grab your attacker’s right hand with both of your hands.  Be sure that your right hand is on the bottom.  Both of your thumbs should be facing away from you.  Step clockwise with your right foot so that you are facing the same way as your attacker.  Turn your body 180° while you push on their elbow with your elbow.  Step back with your left foot and rotate your body as you press their hand to the ground.
  3. Attacker has a staff in both hands. Their right foot is forward.  Attacker strikes down with the staff (like #1 staff defense except the staff is under their armpit).  As they do this you slide in with your left foot forward and grab the staff between their hands.  Your right hand is low and left hand is high.  Be sure that your thumbs are facing the attacker.  Step with your right foot in towards the middle and pivot 180° counterclockwise.  Roll the attacker across your right hip and to the ground.
  4. Attacker has a staff in both hands. Their left foot is forward.  Attacker does a poke at you.  You slide to the outside of the staff making sure that your right foot is forward.  Grab the attacker’s left hand with your right hand and your left hand grabs the end of the staff. Pull the attacker towards you while grabbing the staff behind their left elbow with your right hand.  Pivot counterclockwise on your right foot pulling the end of the staff with you.  Push your right arm against the attackers elbow.  Continue forcing the attackers elbow by leaning your body behind the push of your right arm.  This will force them to the ground.
  5. Attacker swings the staff with their right foot forward (like a baseball bat) and their right hand is closest to you. You step into a right foot forward horseback stance, and grab the staff with both hands.  Your right hand goes closest to the attacker.  You then do a right hand back fist to their temple.  Then put your hand back on the staff.  Then step with your left foot forward and twist so you are facing the same direction they are.  As you do this, swing the staff with your left hand and strike the back of their right leg to take them down.
  6. Attacker swings the staff with their left foot forward (like a baseball bat) and their right hand is closest to you. You step into a right foot forward horseback stance, and grab the staff with both hands.  Your right hand goes closest to the attacker.  You then do a right hand back fist to their temple.  Then put your hand back on the staff.  Then you do this swing the staff with your left hand and strike between their legs.
  7. Attacker has a staff in both hands. Their left foot is forward.  Attacker does a poke at you.  You slide to the inside with your left foot forward.  Grab the attacker’s left hand with both of your hands (left hand on top, right hand on bottom).  This will trap their hand on the staff.  Twist their arm as you pass the staff over your head to your left.  Step to your left with your right foot and plant your right elbow over their elbow.  Drive your inner elbow down into the joint as you lift their wrist.  Make the staff go into the nerves on the wrist and forearm.  Drop to your right knee and pin.
  8. You both have staffs. You both are in right foot forward fighting stances.  Attacker does a right hand baseball swing.  You do a right hand high side block, followed by a spinning back poke to their solar plexus, followed by a right hand over the head strike with your staff.
  9. You both have staffs. You are in a right foot forward fighting stance, they are in a left foot forward fighting stance.  Attacker steps forward and does a right hand forward strike to your knee.  You do a right hand low side block, followed immediately by sliding your staff up to and behind their right knee.  Pull the staff to hook the knee and put them to the ground.
  10. You both have staffs.  You both are in right foot forward fighting stances.  Attacker does a left foot forward swing to your ribs (their left hand is forward also).  You do a right hand low side and rotate your staff 360° to your left sweeping their staff up and over and down to the ground.  Then bring your staff up with your right hand and hit them in the face.  Drive the attackers head downward, and do a right handed staff strike to their solar plexus.

DAN KUM SELF-DEFENSE

  1. Attacker steps with the right foot and does a right hand poke at your stomach. You slide to your left and secure their hand with both of your hands (your right should be on top).  Then push their elbow into their ribs so they loosen up.  Continue to step through with your right foot and twist counterclockwise as you lift their hand over your head.  When you are facing the same direction as the attacker you stab them in the stomach.
  2. Attacker steps with the right foot and does a right hand poke at your head. You step to your left and do a left knife hand block to their wrist.  Immediately grab the hand and do a right knife hand strike to their wrist and grab it (both hands should now be on there wrist).  Turn there wrist so the point of the knife faces them.  You then do a right leg roundhouse kick followed by a right leg sweep to their right leg.  When they hit the ground you do #20 hand technique and take the knife from them.
  3. Attacker steps with the right foot and does a right hand overhead strike to the top of your head. You do #20 hand technique (except punch the chest instead of doing a back elbow) and take the knife.
  4. Attacker swipes at your chest. You step in with your left foot and do a left hand knife defense block to their left hand, and your right hand does a center punch to their solar plexus.  Next grab their left shoulder with your right hand and do a right hip throw.  When they are on the ground you break their arm across your shin (#19 hand technique) and take the knife with your right hand.
  5. Attacker is holding the knife against your throat with their right hand. You turn your head quickly to the left as your right hand goes up to secure the hand holding the knife.  Your left hand goes to their elbow.  Move the knife to the right away from your throat.  Slide your left hand up to your right hand to help secure the knife.  Your left elbow should then go to the top of their right elbow.  Push with your left elbow down on their elbow to cause pain.
  6. Attacker is holding the knife against your throat with their right hand from behind you.  You quickly turn your head to the left and reach up with your right hand to their knife hand.  Pull the hand away from your throat and break their elbow across your right shoulder.  As you do a left back elbow strike to their solar plexus.
  7. Attacker is holding the knife against your throat in their right hand from behind you. Quickly turn your head to the left & reach up with your right hand to their knife hand.  Pull the hand away from your throat by twisting clockwise.  Turn your body to face them & keep twisting their wrist.  Take knife with your left hand.
  8. Attacker does a right foot forward & a right hand backwards slash (like a front chop) to your face. Step forward with your left leg to your left & outside of the attacker in a horseback stance.  You do a right knife hand block (outside/inside).  Grab their wrist with your right hand and your left hand goes across their throat.  Wrap your left arm around their neck and choke them as you put their right elbow against your chest.  Keep choking and applying pressure by leaning backwards until they give up the knife.
  9. Attacker has a knife in their right hand and the point is under your chin. Move to the left as you do a double palm strike to their wrist.  Your left hand goes on the outside of their wrist and the right one on the inside of the wrist.  Lift your chin as you do this.
  10. Knife is in your back (kidneys).  The knife is in their right hand.  Pivot to the left quickly and do a left forearm block to there hand as you do a right palm heel strike to their face.

DAN BONG SELF-DEFENSE

  1. You both are in a left foot forward fighting stance. You have your stick in your right hand.  Attacker throws a right hand reverse punch.  You block with your left knife hand.  Thrust your stick into the attacker’s solar plexus.  Then bring the stick under and over the attacker’s right punch.  Your wrists are forming an “X” block.  Grab the stick with your left hand (fingers over).  Flex your wrist over the attacker’s wrist as you bring your hands down to the front of your belt.  Attacker should be on the ground.
  2. You both are in a left foot forward fighting stance. You have your stick in your right hand.  Attacker throws a right hand reverse punch.  You block and grab in the high block position.  Swing the stick into their right ribs.  In a circular motion bring the end of the stick over the outside of the attacker’s right shoulder and under their throat.  Push them to the ground by stepping into the attacker with your right leg.  Once on the ground you put pressure on their elbow by pulling their arm against your right hold against the staff.
  3. You both are in a left foot forward fighting stance. You have your stick in your right hand.  Attacker throws a right hand reverse punch. You block and grab in the high block position. Swing the stick into their right ribs.  Attack the groin by dropping the stick down between their legs & swinging upwards.  Drop to your right knee as you turn the stick parallel to the ground.  This turn will push the stick against the attackers left leg and against the back of their right leg. This should cause the attacker to fall away from you.
  4. You both are in a left foot forward fighting stance. You have your stick in your right hand.  Attacker throws a right hand reverse punch.  You block and grab in the high block position.  Swing the stick into their right ribs.  Step forward & to the side with your right leg bringing the attacker’s right hand, in circular motion, down and in front of you.  Place the stick against the attacker’s right under arm.  Step forward with your left foot & pivot clockwise on both feet.  Continue the circular motion by bringing attackers right hand directly over your head & dropping to your left knee. Use the stick to lever the attackers arm through the motion.  This will allow you to flip the attacker forward to their back in front of you.  When on the ground slip the stick from under their arm & across the neck. Using your left arm pull the attackers arm against the stick for more pressure.
  5. You both are in a left foot forward fighting stance. You have your stick in your left hand.  Attacker throws a right hand stepping punch.  You slide forward& do a left swing to their stomach as you do a right hand outside/inside block then grab to their right wrist.  Slide your left hand over the end of your stick to reverse your grip.  Then you twist clockwise bringing their right hand with you making sure that stick goes over the top of their right elbow.  Then keep their hand still and push down on the stick to hurt the elbow.
  6. You both are in a right foot forward fighting stance. You have the stick in your right hand. Attacker does a right hand jab and you slide forward and do a left hand high block.  Reach under their arm with the stick.  Grip the end of the stick with your left hand.  Lock the shoulder by pushing their wrist down with your left wrist as you lift their elbow with the stick. Pivot & throw them
  7. The attacker is in a left foot forward fighting stance and you are in a right foot forward fighting stance. You have the stick in your right hand.  The attacker reaches and grabs the stick.  You do an outside/inside motion with the stick to turn their wrist over.  This should turn their elbow and wrist.  Then take your left hand and secure their fingers to the stick by pressing them into the stick.  Push down on the stick so their wrist feels the pain.
  8. You both are in a right foot forward fighting stance. You have the stick in your right hand. Attacker does a right hand jab and you slide forward and do a left knife hand block as you do a right overhead strike to their head.  Then pass the stick between the attacker’s legs and hook them.  Pull on the stick as you do a left palm heel strike to their chin.
  9. Attacker grabs your lapel in a “X” choke. You bring the stick under their arms and place it over both wrists.  Reach under their arms with your other hand and grip the end of the stick.  Your arms should now be crossed, palms facing you.  Press the stick into the nerves on the top wrist by pulling down with your arms and opening your elbows.  This should release the hold on you.
  10. Attacker has the stick and you have nothing.  You both start in left foot forward fighting stance.  Attacker steps forward to do an overhead strike to your head.  You slide to the outside of the attacker and do a left hand high block to their triceps tendon.  Grab the stick hand with your right hand and continue the motion like they were still striking you.  Roll your left forearm clockwise and apply a reverse arm bar.
